PROVIDING MEDICAL ASSISTANCE TO THE LOCALS – KHURMUR (HANDWARA)

1.    Bhagatpura Company Operating Base of the Rajwar Tigers on request of residents of village Khurmur provided medical assistance to the locals which fall under Area of Responsibility of 21 Rashtriya Rifles (GUARDS). Khurmur residents requested for medical assistance as the village is in the interiors of Zachaldor and has minimal Medical setup.

2.    Regimental Medical Officer from unit, including 02 Nursing Assistants and  team of doctors from District Hospital Handwara provided medical advice/ assistance and distributed medicines to the locals of all age groups who came up for medical aid voluntarily. 414 locals (135 Males, 178 Females and 101 children) were treated during the medical camp. The medical camp was planned at interior village of Zachaldor to genuinely provide medical assistance to the villagers who are not able to visit towns of Handwara or Srinagar due to non-availability of transport means. The medical camps received an overwhelming response and this shows the bonding, trust and faith of AWAM in Indian Army even in present difficult times. Medical officers from District Hospital Handwara also assisted the Army Medical team including Dr Javid Munawar (Gynecologist), Dr Rameez Nabi (Dental Surgeon), Dr Shabir Ahmed (General Physician) and Dr Shaista Tabasum (Lady Medical Officer).

3.    This endeavour by the Company Operating Base and the response from AWAM highlights the trust and faith which the locals have on Rashtriya Rifles Battalion and Army as a whole.  It is a result of consistent and focused efforts being put in by all the ranks of Battalion to establish a good rapport with locals and bring the AWAM as close as possible, thereby creating a positive environment in the Area of Responsibility.
