Delhi Chief Minister's Official Residence Allotment Sparks Controversy

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has accused the central government of canceling the allotment of her official residence, leading to a heated political dispute. Atishi, who assumed office as Chief Minister in December 2024, claimed that the Union Ministry had revoked her residence allotment in a move she described as politically motivated.

Atishi expressed her concerns in a statement, alleging that the decision was aimed at undermining her position and creating unnecessary obstacles for her governance. She also stated that the cancellation of the allotment came as a surprise and was executed without any prior notice or due explanation.

In response, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly contested Atishi's accusations, dismissing them as baseless and politically charged. BJP spokespersons clarified that the decision to revoke the allotment was in accordance with established rules and procedures, and they further claimed that it was a routine administrative matter unrelated to the political dynamics between the Delhi government and the central government.

This controversy has escalated tensions between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by Atishi, and the BJP, with both parties trading accusations of misusing office and disregarding due process. Political analysts suggest that this dispute could further deepen the already existing rift between the Delhi government and the Centre, particularly on issues of governance and control.

As the controversy continues, the issue of official residence allotments for elected representatives remains a point of contention, raising questions about the role of the central government in the day-to-day functioning of the Delhi government.
